Table Of Content

Members of the interior design community provide us with the content to communicate the message to the broader public. ASID promotes involvement, innovation, and expanded access to leadership opportunities that maximize engagement across identity groups and professional levels. Identity groups include and are not limited to age, appearance, disability, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, nationality, professional level, race, religion, and sexual orientation. Though aesthetic choices remain important, there’s a greater need now more than ever to consider how an environment impacts the people who use a space. In 2023, that will translate to an increased value on spaces designed to alleviate stress and promote an overall sense of wellness.

NCIDQ Certification gives the interior designer a sense of personal achievement and contributes not only to the individual’s professional recognition, but also to the recognition of the profession. Interior designers must demonstrate a specific set of competencies, supported by supervised work experience and a college degree, to earn the NCIDQ Certification. Interior designers distinguish themselves to clients, policymakers, and the general public by earning the NCIDQ Certification – the standard for professional interior designers. In principle and in practice, ASID values and seeks diversity and inclusive practices within the interior design profession. ASID believes diversity makes organizations more successful and communities more fulfilling.
That’s especially true in the workplace, as employers still have to sell their employees on the value of physically showing up to the office. Simultaneously, homeowners are increasingly interested in interiors that make use of colors, lighting, and natural materials that can soothe the mind. Biophilic design, an emphasis on air quality, and the introduction of dedicated areas for wellness activities like yoga or meditation will take on even more value. Follow these steps to join the ASID community of designers, educators, students, and affiliates who believe that Design Impacts Lives.
The annual call for Nominations is open to members of the design community who may or may not be ASID members. Board terms are three years and run from October 1-September 30 annually, which is ASID’s fiscal year.
